GlobalFest Begins 20th Anniversary Celebrations on Thursday
CALGARY, ALTA – GlobalFest begins its festivities at Elliston Park on August 18, 2022. Guests who come to the park will be able to experience the full festival experience with food trucks, 24 cultural pavilions at the OneWorld Festival, night market and community action spaces to check out.
When the sun sets, GlobalFest will light the sky with fireworks with returning champions from Team India, who were awarded the 2021 Best Pyromusical Presentation. Their new show takes the audience on a journey through popular music throughout the years and is sure to have people out of their seats and dancing along.
“This festival is a celebration not only for us and our 20 years as an organization but also for our communities,” says Ken Goosen, COO of GlobalFest. “The past few years have been a difficult time for many, so we are grateful to be a safe place for people to gather and celebrate.”
The gates to GlobalFest open at 6 p.m. with multi-cultural performances on the TD Main Stage and Air Canada Stage happening until 9 p.m. Tickets are available online, at Calgary Co-op, Marlborough Mall or at the box office on the gate. It is recommended that guests bring a chair or blanket for seating in our south bowl and north side viewing areas. The festival goes ahead rain or shine, so guests should be prepared for all weather conditions – bring a hat and a waterproof jacket!
