Asian Heritage Month activities began on May 14th at Southcentre Mall, in partnership with GlobalFest. As the celebrations at Southcentre come to a close, it is vital to acknowledge the impact that these events have had.

Beautiful displays combined with cultural history create a really unique experience when going through Centre Court in Southcentre.

Together with Southcentre we have tailored a mall into where culture meets community in an interactive space where China, India and Philippines Calgary communities are able to share and demonstrate their vibrant and rich traditions.

GlobalFest is happy to have been invited to collaborate with Southcentre Mall to commemorate Asian Heritage Month. Our two organizations are dedicated to fostering diversity and creating a more inclusive, active community where everyone belongs.

To commemorate Asian Heritage Month, we asked representatives from our Chinese, Indian, and Filipino communities to demonstrate their cultures and celebrate the incredible chance to be Canadian while having a treasured and respected venue to honour our heritages.

Over the past 22 years, GlobalFest has partnered with over 50 local ethnocultural associations. Every day we are working with them to make our city, province and nation a more welcoming place for all regardless of differences. We honour and then Southcentre mall for inviting us to partner with them this Asian Heritage Month.

Building Community and Partnership

This partnership with both Southcentre mall and Asian communities is more than just a partnership/event. It is a shared commitment to diversity, inclusion and driving to make Calgary a more culturally educated community.

GlobalFest is more than just a firework festival. With events like Asian Heritage Month, We are able to acknowledge all the year-round community impact that GlobalFest is involved in.
