GlobalFest goes online with Flavours of the festival
GlobalFest has always been more than just fireworks. Annually, the OneWorld Festival celebrates the food, music and performances of the cultural partners who join together in celebration at Elliston Park. 2020 changed everything for our communities and like many organizations, GlobalFest went digital and launched the GlobalFestYYC YouTube channel with three new programs in September last year.
For 2021, GlobalFest is turning their attention to the tastes of the OneWorld Festival by creating a new 10-part mini-series – GlobalFest Flavours. Each episode will introduce the audience to a different culture to learn about the foods, flavours, spices and recipes from each participating cultural partner.
Audiences will go on the whole journey – buying spices, shopping for ingredients in local Calgary stores, exploring recipes and stepping into home and restaurant kitchens where the chef will share how to prepare a featured dish. There will be opportunity for viewers to interact with the chefs and ask questions.
The first five episodes will launch online 20 April, with Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park sharing indigenous cuisine, with the following episodes released bi-weekly. The second series is coming out in the fall.
Limited spice and dry goods boxes are available for Calgary locals, and the first 25 registrants will receive a swag bag from GlobalFest Flavours sponsors.
Interview opportunities available.
